Fireworks Widget
Created, in a period of less than 4 days in June 2007, a simple widget as a proof of proficiency using Flash and Actionscript 2. I developed the physics for the fireworks using an example provided by Pekka Sandborg. I was able to control the physics and create two different shot types for fireworks: a falling flower, and a burst flower pattern.
On a personal note, I love physics and particle systems. Part of why I do what I do is because I get entertained by what I make. This project was a great learning experience working on this project and I am currently using the physics system and fireworks logic in one of my future game releases.
Notable features include:
- Firework Entropy – Random lifespans for fireworks ensure a realistic representation of the unpredictability of a fireworks lifespan. Some fireworks can be seen exploding on their way, while others look as if they might not fire; eventually firing on their way down.
- Various color configurations – including a red white and blue explosion format
- Date specific behaviors – widget includes a countdown timer that launches the fireworks show on it’s own when view on the 4th of July!
