Today's Habits and Tomorrow's Dreams - Do They Line Up?


I recently saw this incredible video today about Steph Curry and his work ethic. There's a person that is speaking at one point in the video, talking about how Steph Curry's work ethic as a particular basketball camp set him apart from his peers. He was the first guy on the court and the last guy off (coincidently this is the same thing I've heard about how Kobe Bryant has always practiced).

Anyways, there's a lot of motivation in this video to be had. The part I wanted to really touch on was the person's question he poses at one point,

"Are the habits you have today on par with the dreams you have for tomorrow?"

I don't know what superlative to use for this question that is deserving enough, but it's at least excellent. If you're an aspiring artist, business person, whatever, how are the things you are doing today and every day going to move you closer to the things you eventually wish to accomplish?

There's a lot to be said for being diligent, but there are some different ways to go about this. The one I'll suggest to you today is that you make a list of your goals. Write them down physically. My wife does this on huge presentation pad paper each year. When she accomplishes something, she gets to strike through it. Having this list in such a large form allows her to always have a big-format, very present reminder of what she herself had set out to accomplish that year. It's a great system and one I personally need to adopt. My goals tend to get lost between emails to myself, Evernote, and text files.
